Details: According to Zelenskyy, the Russian attack has injured the child's parents, his 15-year-old brother and a neighbour who came to help the family and was hurt in a repeat Russian strike.

Those injured sustained burns and shrapnel wounds.

Zelenskyy stressed that Russian forces had struck an ordinary residential building.

The president also said Russia had fired six ballistic missiles on civilian infrastructure in Kyiv. As of the morning of Friday 8 August, one person has been confirmed dead in the capital.

Zelenskyy noted that Russia has also attacked Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv and Poltava oblasts overnight.

He called on Ukraine's partners to tighten sanctions on Russia's ballistic missile production and to provide Ukraine with more air defence systems and interceptor missiles.
