Fire breaks out at Rosneft oil refinery in Komsomolsk-on-Amur – photos

A fire has broken out at Rosneft's oil refinery in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in Russia's Khabarovsk Krai. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Details: At around 11:00 local time, residents of Komsomolsk-on-Amur began reporting a fire near the local oil refinery.

Astra analysed footage posted by eyewitnesses and established that the fire had broken out at the Komsomolsk Refinery, which is owned by Rosneft.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

TASS, citing the company's press service, also reported a fire at the refinery. The press service said nobody had been injured in the incident.

For reference: The Komsomolsk Refinery was commissioned in 1942. Its design capacity is around 8 million tonnes of crude oil per year.

The refinery produces petrol, diesel and marine fuel and is one of the key suppliers of petroleum products in the Russian Far East.

Background: Ukraine's defence forces struck the Taneko oil refinery in Russia's Republic of Tatarstan on the night of 9-10 August, causing a fire to break out at the facility.
