A firefighter has died in hospital after sustaining injuries when a building collapsed in Sumy while he was dealing with the aftermath of a Russian drone strike.

Quote: "Another day, another devastating loss for the State Emergency Service family. This morning, part of a building collapsed while firefighters were putting out a fire in Sumy caused by a Russian drone strike.

Oleksii Stoliarenko, 30, shift supervisor at the Rapid Response Unit at the State Emergency Service's Regional Emergency Management Centre in Sumy Oblast, was trapped under a concrete slab and seriously injured. Doctors fought to save his life, but Oleksii could not be saved.

Today we have lost more than just an emergency worker. We have lost a brother, a friend and a colleague."

Details: Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of Sumy City Military Administration, reported earlier that Russian FPV drones had been attacking the Kovpakivskyi district in Sumy since last night.

"Two women aged 66 and 52 have been injured and received treatment at the scene from an emergency medical team. The enemy strikes have damaged civilian vehicles, warehouses and infrastructure facilities," he wrote.
