Ukrainian MiG-29 crashes in Odesa Oblast, pilot ejects

A Ukrainian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jet was lost during a combat mission in Odesa Oblast on the evening of 10 August. The pilot survived.

The pilot was conducting a combat mission to destroy enemy aerial assets in Odesa Oblast."

Details: Early reports from the Air Force indicate that during the launch of an air-launched missile, an incident occurred that caused the aircraft to catch fire. The pilot lost control despite attempts to avert the crash.

The pilot successfully ejected and was evacuated to a medical facility.

The cause of the incident is being investigated.

Previously: The Air Force reported that contact had been lost with a MiG-29 fighter jet carrying out a combat mission in Poltava Oblast on the night of 26-27 June.
