Ukraine hits Russian US$100m radar in Sevastopol that detects aircraft and missiles

Ukraine's defence forces struck a Russian long-range Nebo-U radar station in temporarily occupied Sevastopol on the night of 12-13 August.

Details: The General Staff reports that the Nebo-U is a Russian long-range three-coordinate VHF-band radar station. It is designed to detect and track aerial targets, including aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.

"Striking the station reduces the capabilities of Russian forces to control airspace and detect aerial assets in a timely manner," the report states.

An infographic published by the General Staff estimates the cost of the Nebo-U radar at approximately US$100 million.

In addition, on the night of 12-13 August, Ukraine's defence forces struck a drone ground control station near Myrne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and a fuel and lubricant depot near Dovzhansk in Luhansk Oblast.

An ammunition depot near Novyi Hai in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and a logistics depot near Kalanchak in Kherson Oblast were also hit.

On the territory of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian forces struck a cluster of Russian troops near Butyrki in Belgorod Oblast.

The General Staff emphasised that striking these targets weakens the capabilities of Russian forces, disrupts their logistical support and reduces their ability to stockpile and deploy ammunition, equipment and personnel.
