A Su-34 bomber was damaged on Russian territory on the night of 19-20 August. A satellite image was published by analysts from the OSINT project Exilenova+.

Details: The aircraft was damaged during a strike on the airfield in Akhtubinsk in northern Astrakhan Oblast. Earlier in the morning, the OSINT project reported that a thermal signature was detected at the airfield following a drone attack.

According to the analysts, the bomber was "significantly damaged".

"The aftermath of the strike on a Su-34 frontline bomber overnight at the airfield in Akhtubinsk. A fuel spill followed by a fire. The bomber itself was significantly damaged," Exilenova+ reported.

The Russian multirole Su-34 fighter-bomber is the primary carrier of guided aerial bombs with unified gliding and correction modules and unified interservice glide munitions.

According to the War&Sanctions project, a third of the companies involved in supplying components for the production of these aircraft are not subject to restrictions by any of the sanctions coalition countries, meaning they may continue to have access to the necessary foreign components and technologies.

Background: On the night of 19-20 August, Ukraine conducted a long-range attack, successfully striking important Russian military facilities in Donetsk and Prymorsko-Akhtarsk.
