Details: The meeting took place at the EU Delegation building. The EU office described it as "open and constructive".

"The EU will continue its strong support for Ukraine's anti-corruption efforts as Ukraine moves forward on its EU path," the delegation said.

Background:

  • The meeting came amid the exposure by NABU and SAPO of a scheme in which suspects in Operation Forrest Gump attempted to seize real estate and other assets through interference with the Ministry of Justice's networks.
  • The same criminal group organised the laundering of funds to pay bail for former energy and justice minister Herman Halushchenko. They used state-owned Sense Bank for this purpose.
  • A SAPO prosecutor listed the people mentioned in the Forrest Gump and Themis cases. They include Iryna Mudra, former deputy head of the President's Office, former MP Maksym Mykytas and serving MP Vadym Stolar.
