Russian attacks on Chernihiv Oblast over past day leave 38 people injured – photos

Over the course of 24 August, Russian forces carried out 45 attacks on Chernihiv Oblast, injuring 38 people, including several children and teenagers.

Details: Chaus said Russian forces carried out 16 attacks using various types of strike UAVs and another 22 FPV drone attacks on border areas.

As of the morning of 25 August, the number of people injured in the strike on an apartment building in Chernihiv had risen to 25.

Quote: "A 61-year-old woman remains in hospital. Another 24 people received medical assistance and are being treated on an outpatient basis. Municipal and emergency services are working at the site of the strike, and people are receiving the necessary support.

The blast also shattered windows in nearby residential and administrative buildings and damaged more than 20 vehicles."

Details: In addition, on the evening of 24 August, a Russian strike drone hit a building housing telecommunications operators in the centre of Mena. Twelve people were injured in the attack, including four teenagers. Three people were taken to hospital in a moderate condition.

The blast damaged windows in a nearby apartment building, office buildings, shops and houses.

Starting in the evening and continuing throughout the night, Russian forces also launched a large-scale attack on Koriukivka using Gerbera and Geran drones. Strikes were recorded at several local businesses, where warehouses, outbuildings and lorries were damaged.

A 15-year-old girl was injured in one of the attacks. She was taken to the regional children's hospital with acoustic trauma.

During the day, strike drones also hit a wood-processing plant, the Yalivshchyna Regional Landscape Park and an open area in Chernihiv. Fires broke out in dry vegetation in neighbouring hromadas, and blast waves damaged houses and a vehicle. Russian attacks also targeted critical infrastructure facilities over the course of the day.

Background: On 24 August, Russian forces struck an apartment building in central Chernihiv with a Geran-5 drone. Earlier reports indicated that 20 people had been injured in the attack, including two children.
