Russians attack grocery chain warehouse that had been operating for just four days

A Russian attack on 27 August damaged a warehouse in Kyiv Oblast used by the Fora grocery chain.

Details: The chain started using the facility just four days earlier, on 23 August.

No employees were injured in the attack.

"This is already the third attack on the logistics infrastructure used by Fora in August. The team continues to work on restructuring logistics and ensuring that stores are supplied with the necessary goods. The chain's stores are operating as usual," Fora said.

The losses from the two previous attacks have been preliminarily estimated at more than UAH 1.25 billion (US$28 million). The company has not yet disclosed the extent of the damage caused by the third attack on 27 August.

Background:

• On the night of 4-5 August, Russian strikes damaged or destroyed four Fozzy Group distribution centres that supplied the Silpo, Fora and Thrash! supermarket chains. Six employees were killed in the attack.
• On 8 August, Fora warned that after its distribution centres were damaged in a Russian attack, the range of goods available in stores might be limited for some time.
• On 20 August, a Russian attack damaged another Fora warehouse in Martusivka, Kyiv Oblast, where fresh produce was stored. The facility had been operating for just one week.
