Ukrainian forces refute Putin's claims that Russia has captured Kozacha Lopan in Kharkiv Oblast – map

The Ukrainian military has refuted claims by Russian ruler Vladimir Putin and the Russian Ministry of Defence that Russian forces have captured the settlement of Kozacha Lopan in Kharkiv Oblast.

Quote: "The latest claims by Russian propagandists and Putin personally about the 'capture' of Kozacha Lopan in Kharkiv Oblast are, as usual, untrue. The settlement remains under the control of Ukraine's defence forces."

Details: The 14th Army Corps noted, however, that the situation around the village remains tense, with active combat operations ongoing.

"The situation is dynamic. Our troops are holding their designated positions, conducting active defence operations and relentlessly striking the enemy," the Corps said.

The corps also reported that 178 Russian soldiers have been killed and 210 wounded since active combat operations began in the Kozacha Lopan area.

The 14th Army Corps stressed that Ukraine's defence forces remain in control of the situation on this front and urged people to rely solely on official sources of information and not to fall for Russian disinformation.

Ukrainska Pravda has learned that the sophisticated Code 9.2 drone unit – the 475th Separate Assault Regiment – took part in clearing Russian forces from the area.

In a new story (English translation coming soon), Ukrainska Pravda reported that "Code 9.2, working with other units, blocked Russian logistics routes in Belgorod Oblast and destroyed a dam and bridges to effectively clear the area. As a result, the Russians were unable to deploy reserves to this front in response to attacks by Ukraine's defence forces."

Background:

• On 1 September, Putin claimed that Russian forces had captured another 14 Ukrainian settlements, including Kozacha Lopan and Sviatohirsk. The Russian Defence Ministry echoed his claims.
