Deputy commander of Russian Volunteer Corps has been released

Taras Borovskyi, the lawyer for Stepan Kaplunov, Deputy Commander for Combat Operations of the Russian Volunteer Corps , has said that the serviceman has been released, but his whereabouts are currently unknown.

Details: Earlier, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, Borovskyi said he considered the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) allegedly preventing an assassination attempt on the leader of the Russian opposition movement to be a "PR stunt" and claimed that Kaplunov had actually been abducted.

"The SSU press service is trying, as I understand it, to somehow cover up the unlawful detention and violations of all the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code committed by its employees… But we have accepted that this version of events may be acceptable to the public, and we will not continue to make any waves around this topic," Borovskyi said.

Background:

On 1 September, the Russian Volunteer Corps said that Kaplunov had been abducted by unknown individuals in the courtyard of his building.
On the night of 1-2 September, information spread on social media about a shootout allegedly involving Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv's Dniprovskyi District, and that it was somehow connected to Kaplunov's disappearance. As of the morning, Ukrainska Pravda reported that the standoff was still ongoing.
Later, State Bureau of Investigation officers and the head of the SSU's Special Operations Centre Alpha arrived at the scene. According to Ukrainska Pravda, three employees of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine were injured as a result of the conflict.
Meanwhile, in the morning, the SSU said that, together with Defence Intelligence, it had prevented a terrorist attack against one of the leaders of the Russian opposition political national movement, who had arrived in Ukraine.
