Several cultural events cancelled or postponed in Kyiv over security concerns

At least six cultural events in Kyiv have been cancelled or postponed due to the deteriorating security situation, including music festivals, charity fairs and book events.

The GogolFest festival, which is returning to Kyiv in September after a nine-year hiatus, has been forced to postpone some of its events until spring. Festival founder Vlad Troitskyi announced the changes in a comment to Suspilne Culture.

The organisers have decided not to hold events in the main building of the International Centre of Culture and Arts (formerly the October Palace). A reduced programme will run from 16 to 20 September, featuring film screenings and visual arts events.

The Kurazh festival, which was due to take place on 19-20 September, has also announced that it is temporarily suspending its activities. The project team said it will not hold the planned events for the time being and will refund tickets and participation fees already paid. However, the organisers hope to hold a Christmas edition of Kurazh.

All guided tours at the Mezhyhiria Landmark Park have been temporarily cancelled due to the security situation. The park itself remains open to visitors. The administration has urged visitors to proceed to the shelter in the upper part of the park during air raids.

The Pokolinnia festival was due to take place this weekend. However, the organisers announced that the event has been postponed until 25-27 September due to the security situation.

The team said previously purchased tickets will remain valid. The organisers are currently in talks with the artists about rescheduling their performances for the new dates and will announce an updated programme later.

The Young Blood Live music showcase, which was due to take place at the Keller club on 6 September, has also been postponed. The organisers have not yet announced new dates. They said updates would be published in stories and posts on social media.

The Knyzhkova Kraina. Mysterious book festival, which was due to take place at the Expocenter of Ukraine exhibition centre in Kyiv, has been postponed until spring.
