Prosecutor General Kravchenko comments on new house, money safe photo and wife's visa

Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has again denied allegations that he was involved in receiving money from illegal call centres and has also explained reports about a new house used by his family.

Quote: "As for the conversations that have been made public and my involvement in them: I reject the claims that I was involved in receiving money from illegal call centres and laundering it.

It is clear from the conversations that the earlier claim by anti-corruption bodies about my involvement in receiving money from illegal call centres and laundering it has no confirmation whatsoever. Conversations are just conversations, just as the photo of a safe containing money is merely a photo of a safe containing money and has nothing to do with either me or the Prosecutor General's Office. According to the lawyers, it is simply a photograph from another criminal case."

Details: Kravchenko also said that all his family's travel and household expenses had been incurred strictly within the law and in line with his declared income, with no violations.

"As for obtaining a US visa and buying a laptop: my wife prepared the documents and obtained the visa herself and she does not have a new laptop," he added.

Quote: "As for the 280-square-metre house where our family lives under a rental agreement: we chose it back in the winter, but it needed some finishing work and equipment to be set up. This was the context in which the work of tradespeople, the alarm system and household appliances were discussed. We moved into the house on 1 May 2026. My permanent place of residence will be declared in accordance with the law."

Previously: At the court hearing of 6 September, a prosecutor from the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office said that Serhii Kropyva, deputy head of the International Legal Cooperation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, who is accused of providing "protection" to fraudulent call centres, coordinated renovation work at Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko's house in Kozyn.

According to information presented by the prosecutor, Kropyva also helped Kravchenko's wife obtain a US visa and organised a birthday celebration for the Prosecutor General in Madrid.

Investigative journalists from Bihus.Info posted photos of a house in Kozyn that Kravchenko may have been secretly using.

Earlier on the same day, Kravchenko denied allegations that he was involved in protecting illegal call centres and ordered checks to be carried out at the Office of the Prosecutor General, including polygraph tests for staff at units that handle such cases.

Background:

• Sources told Ukrainska Pravda that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) were conducting searches at premises belonging to Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, his deputy Mariia Vdovychenko and Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa Oblast Military Administration. The Prosecutor General's Office initially denied that Kravchenko's premises had been searched.
• On the evening of 4 September, it was reported that NABU and SAPO were conducting investigative actions at the Prosecutor General's Office as part of a special operation to expose a criminal organisation.
• On 5 September, the Prosecutor General's Office confirmed that NABU detectives had conducted searches in official premises "used by Kravchenko".
• According to Ukrainska Pravda sources in business circles, NABU and SAPO had detained Kropyva.
• On the same day, NABU and SAPO announced that they had uncovered a criminal organisation which investigators say was headed by the head of a department at the Prosecutor General's Office. Members of the organisation are suspected of regularly taking bribes from fraudulent call centres and laundering the proceeds of crime. According to Ukrainska Pravda, the person in question is Serhii Kropyva.
