Russians damage 14 apartment blocks and metro station in attack on Kyiv – photos, video

A Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of 7-8 September and on the morning of 8 September killed two people and injured 10 others, with damage recorded in seven districts of the capital. Fourteen apartment blocks, warehouses, educational and medical facilities and the entrance to Tarasa Shevchenka metro station were among the sites damaged.

Quote from the National Police: "Two people have been killed and another 10 injured as a result of Russia's overnight attack on Kyiv... Damage and falling debris were recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi, Podilskyi, Solomianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts of the capital. Apartment blocks, a school, shops, an office building and cars were damaged."

Details: The highest number of casualties, including both fatalities, was recorded in the Solomianskyi district. Eight people aged between 22 and 65 were injured there. Doctors diagnosed cuts and shrapnel wounds, as well as injuries to the face, neck, torso and limbs. A 29-year-old foreign national was injured in the Darnytskyi district.

Overall, at least 14 apartment blocks, an accommodation centre, a school, a clinic, 25 cars, a supermarket, a petrol station and warehouses were damaged in the Russian attack on the capital.

"Debris fell at several locations in the Holosiivskyi district. Fires broke out in warehouses and on the grounds of a private school. Debris also fell on a residential building, trapping people in their apartments, and on an unfinished 26-storey building," Klitschko reported.

Fires also broke out in warehouses in the Podilskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Darnytskyi districts. In the Darnytskyi district, debris also fell on the grounds of a house and damaged a car. Residential buildings were also damaged in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

Information and photos posted by local Telegram channels also indicate that the blast wave damaged the entrance to Tarasa Shevchenka metro station.

Emergency services and law enforcement officers are working at the sites where missiles and UAVs have struck and where debris has fallen.

Background: On the night of 7-8 September, the Russians attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. Ten people are currently known to have been injured and two killed in the attack.
