Polish PM convenes special meeting over Russian strikes near border

Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk has convened a special meeting at the Government Centre for Security, which is due to begin at 17:00 on 13 September.

Details: The meeting concerns overnight Russian attacks near the Polish border.

The meeting, initiated by Donald Tusk and first reported by Polish 24-hour commercial news channel TVN24, will be attended by ministers and those responsible for the operation of special services. Government spokesperson Adam Szłapka later confirmed the planned meeting.

Previously: Jacek Goryszewski, spokesperson for Polish Armed Forces Operational Command, said that the threat to Poland "was real" during the night of 12-13 September, when Russia attacked Ukrainian regions.

Dariusz Siniecki, spokesperson for the Polish Border Guard's Nadbużański Brigade, stated that a drone struck a lorry near the Yahodyn-Dorohusk border crossing on the night of 12-13 September.

Earlier, Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, said that the Yahodyn border crossing itself on the border with Poland had not been hit.

Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that there had been no violation of the country's airspace.

The state-run railway operator Ukrainian Railways reported that Russia had struck the locomotive of a passenger train near the Polish border.
