Von der Leyen on new Russian provocations: These are not isolated incidents

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has commented on an incident involving a Russian frigate that fired signal flares towards a Danish Armed Forces helicopter, as well as NATO fighter jets shooting down an unidentified drone over Lithuania for the first time.

Details: Von der Leyen said Europe had once again encountered "reckless and dangerous Russian behaviour".

Quote: "A Russian warship fired emergency flares dangerously close to a Danish helicopter. A drone entered Lithuanian airspace before being destroyed by NATO fighter jets. These are not isolated incidents. They are part of a broader pattern of Russian aggression and provocation against Europe, testing our readiness and our resolve."

Details: The European Commission president stated that Russia will see "our resolve only growing stronger".

"We are reinforcing our collective deterrence and defence, together with NATO. And we are stepping up the pressure on Russia," von der Leyen added.
