Eighteen injured and houses, petrol station and railway damaged in Russian attack on Kyiv – photos

A Russian attack on the city of Kyiv on the night of 16-17 September has injured 18 people, including two children, and damaged residential buildings, educational institutions, offices, a petrol station, warehouses, cars and railway infrastructure facilities.

Quote from Kyiv City Military Administration: "Last night and this morning, the enemy once again struck civilian infrastructure in the capital. Damage caused by the enemy attack has been recorded at more than 10 locations. As of 08:00, 16 people had been injured, including two children: a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy."

Update: Klitschko reported at 09:33 that the number of people injured in Kyiv has risen to 18.

Details: Russia attacked the capital with UAVs and missiles.

The blast wave damaged windows in at least five residential buildings, a school, a lyceum (a specialised secondary school), offices, a petrol station, warehouses and cars.

Debris damaged a warehouse, offices, residential buildings and cars in the Dniprovskyi district. Warehouses were also damaged in the Solomianskyi and Darnytskyi districts, with cars also affected in the latter. The roof of a non-residential building was damaged in the Podilskyi district.

The state-run railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) said: "Railway infrastructure facilities at Mykilska Slobidka station have been damaged. Since this morning, the Kyiv City Express has been running on a shortened loop, bypassing the Darnytsia-Pochaina section. Repairs will take a day. Damage has been caused to windows and doors on a train, at the depot and at several other Ukrzaliznytsia facilities, but we will repair all of this."

First responders and law enforcement officers are working at the sites of the strikes and at locations where debris from downed aerial assets has landed.
