Ukrspecsystems equips the RAM-2X drone with terminal guidance system with target lock up to 3 km – photo

The Ukrainian RAM-2X drone by Ukrspecsystems has been equipped with a terminal guidance system that allows it to complete an attack independently after locking onto a target.

Quote: "If the pilot locks onto a target at a distance of up to 3 km, presses the 'Attack' button and then loses communications, the system will automatically engage the target. Once it has locked onto a target, it will not let go, even if the target is moving."

Details: Furthermore, visual navigation was implemented in the RAM-2X, allowing the drone to navigate through space without a GNSS satellite signal. According to Rymaruk, this makes it less dependent on the impact of electronic warfare assets.

"The system positions itself in space, making the operator's job easier," he noted.

Ukrspecsystems is also working on a fully autonomous version of the RAM-2X, which they plan to release by the end of 2026.

Quote: "The crew will no longer have to be involved in every second of the flight: reconnaissance identifies a target, passes on its coordinates, and the aircraft sets off on an autonomous hunt."

Details: It is noted that the RAM-2X has been used by the defence forces of Ukraine since 2024.

According to Rymaruk, around a hundred units of the defence forces currently use the RAM-2X. With the help of these drones, an average of 50 to 60 units of Russian equipment are struck per month.

Background:

• Earlier, Ukrainska Pravda reported that Ukrspecsystems had publicly presented the RAM-2X at the MSPO 2026 defence exhibition in Poland. The drone is designed to strike high-value targets at distances of up to 180 km, can remain airborne for over two hours, and carry a warhead weighing 2.7 or 3.5 kg.
• The RAM-2X can also work in conjunction with the SHARK-M reconnaissance drone, which provides target designation and acts as a relay. According to the manufacturer, RAM loitering munitions have already struck over 450 targets.
• The 429th Achilles Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade also demonstrated how it used a RAM-2X drone together with the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade to strike a Russian Nebo-M radar system near the Millerovo military airfield.
