Ukrainian RAM-2X drone strikes US$100m Russian radar – video

The 429th Achilles Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade has posted a video showing how, together with the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade, it struck a Russian Nebo-M radar system near the Millerovo military airfield.

Details: The brigade did not disclose the date of the strike.

"The strike was carried out by a RAM-2X loitering munition at a distance of about 175 km from the line of contact. The estimated average cost of a Nebo-M radar system is US$100 million," the military said.

The brigade noted that the Russians use Millerovo airfield to launch strike and decoy drones, including Shaheds, against Ukraine's east, centre and north.

The Nebo-M is a Russian mobile radar system designed to detect aerodynamic and ballistic targets at medium and high altitudes. According to the 429th Brigade, it can detect aircraft at a range of up to 500-600 km, ballistic targets at up to 1,500 km, and low-observable aerial assets at a range of 200-400 km.

The system can detect small targets, including drones and cruise missiles, at distances ranging from tens to hundreds of kilometres, usually within 50-150 km.

RAM-2X by Ukrspecsystems was designed to strike high-value targets at ranges of up to 180 km. The drone can remain airborne for more than two hours and has a high degree of automation. It can carry a 2.7 kg or 3.5 kg explosively formed penetrator warhead.

Background: Earlier, it was reported that pilots from the 429th Achilles Brigade had struck a Russian Nebo-U radar system at the Millerovo airfield in Russia's Rostov Oblast.
