Russians building underground workshops for Shahed drone production at Alabuga

The construction of underground workshops where Shahed-type attack drones will be manufactured has been recorded at Russia's Alabuga Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

Details: According to Dnipro Osint ⟨Harbuz⟩, the Russians have already built around 42,000 sq m of underground space for production facilities.

Quote: "The idea of moving production underground clearly emerged after the first Ukrainian strikes on Alabuga. And now we're seeing just how quickly the Russians are rolling out this construction."

More details: The Russians are also continuing to disperse their production infrastructure and build additional protection around it to make the production ecosystem more complex and more costly to strike, the OSINT analyst believes.

The Alabuga SEZ is best known for its large plant that produces Geran-2 (Shahed-136) attack drones. Production is concentrated at the Alabuga special economic zone in Tatarstan, around 10 km from the town of Yelabuga. The facility includes workshops for assembling composite fuselages, manufacturing engines, casting metal parts and producing electronic circuits and wiring. The facility also has garage-hangars housing Shahed-type drones and its own drone launch pad.

• It was reported earlier that in September, OSINT analyst Dnipro Osint ⟨Harbuz⟩ posted a satellite image of construction in the southern part of Alabuga indicating the continued expansion of the industrial site in Tatarstan where production of Shahed-type attack drones is concentrated.
