Russia attacks Ukraine with 172 drones: air defence downs 148 aerial assets

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 172 drones of various types on the night of 20-21 September. Air defence forces have destroyed or jammed 148 aerial assets.

Details: Starting at 18:00 on 20 September, the Russians launched 172 Shahed (64 of which were jet-powered) and Gerbera attack drones, Parodiya decoy UAVs and Bandrol/Dan-T drone missiles.

The drones were launched from the Russian cities of Belgorod, Shatalovo, Oryol, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Millerovo as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.

Hits by aerial assets have been recorded at 14 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at four locations."
