Large-scale Russian attack cuts power to some consumers in eight oblasts

Some consumers in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv oblasts have been left without electricity as of the morning of 24 September as a result of hostilities and Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.

Details: Emergency repair work has already begun in areas where security conditions allow.

Bad weather has also left more than 600 settlements without electricity across eight oblasts: Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy and Chernihiv.

No scheduled power cuts are currently expected. However, Ukrenergo is urging consumers to limit the use of high-powered electrical appliances between 10:00 and 22:00 to avoid overloading the power system and causing emergency outages.

Electricity consumption also rose by 1.8% compared with the same time the previous day. Ukrenergo said this was due to cloudy and rainy weather across almost the entire country, which reduced the efficiency of solar power plants.

Background: On the night of 23-24 September, Russia attacked Ukraine with Zircon anti-ship missiles, Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 282 drones of various types. Strikes have been recorded at 13 locations.
