Zelenskyy's adviser says whether Ukrainians could lose internet access due to Russian attacks

Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov, an adviser to the president on the development of defence technologies, has said that despite Russian attacks on network infrastructure, the whole of Ukraine will not be left without internet access thanks to the country's distributed internet connections, although the cost of services may rise.

Quote: "The Russians are attacking our information network infrastructure. But Ukraine is a country with highly distributed internet connections, so the entire country – its oblasts and cities – will not be left without internet access. Local outages are possible, but I hope providers will resolve them quickly."

Details: Meanwhile, Flash said the cost of internet services could rise to cover repairs to damaged infrastructure.

Background:

• Following the Russian attack on Kyiv data centres on 24 September, several providers reported infrastructure damage and internet outages.
• Earlier, UTELS and Pavutyna internet providers' data centres were damaged in the Russian attack on the capital on 23 September.
• Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that the Russians had struck Ukrainian data centres in an attempt to disrupt the flow of life-saving information provided through rapid warnings of missile and drone threats.
