Hungarian PM welcomes registration of bill on education in minority languages
Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar has welcomed the submission to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) of a bill on education in national minority languages, saying it strengthens the educational rights of Hungary's community in Ukraine.

Details: Magyar said the bill submitted to the Ukrainian parliament should strengthen legal guarantees for education in Hungarian in Ukraine.
"We welcome the fact that yesterday a bill was submitted to the Ukrainian parliament that strengthens the rights of the Hungarian national minority in the field of education. This bill strengthens the legal guarantees for education in Hungarian and the network of educational institutions," he wrote.
Background:
- On 1 October, a bill on education in the languages of national minorities was registered in the Verkhovna Rada. Its adoption is expected to help lift Hungary's veto and clear the way for two of the negotiating clusters.
- Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed the hope that the adoption of the legislative changes would allow the opening of the next two clusters in Ukraine's EU accession negotiations.
