Barak Ravid, a journalist at American news portal Axios, has stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had been unaware of the "energy ceasefire" between Ukraine and Russia announced by US President Donald Trump, but is willing to agree to it.

Quote: "President Zelenskyy told me: 'The ceasefire announcement was news for me. But if Russians agree to an energy ceasefire Ukraine will agree. If President Trump negotiated it with Putin - please tell us when the ceasefire begins - we are ready and we will accept it.'"

- On 10 October, Trump said it is time for Ukraine to get a new president who could strike a deal with Russia.
