Details: The air base was hit by missiles, after which a large fire broke out at the military base.

Borisoglebsk air base is actively used by Russian forces to station Su-34 and Su-35 fighter-bombers. These aircraft are regularly deployed to drop guided aerial bombs on Ukrainian positions and frontline towns.

The site also houses storage facilities for guided aerial bombs and large aviation fuel tanks.

Neither the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine nor Russian officials have yet officially confirmed the extent of the damage.

Background:

  • In October 2024, Ukraine's defence forces conducted a joint drone operation against Borisoglebsk air base, striking ammunition depots and aircraft parking areas.
  • In July 2025, Ukrainian forces attacked the military facility again, damaging infrastructure and aircraft.
  • On the night of 7-8 July 2026, units of Ukraine's defence forces conducted another strike on the air base in Voronezh Oblast, destroying a fuel and lubricants storage facility.
