Quote from Klitschko: "We plan to resume a regular service between the Lisova and Akademmistechko stations tonight. Trains will not stop at the Chernihivska station until it is repaired."
Details: Klitschko reported that he had checked on Kyiv Metro workers' progress in carrying out repairs at the Chernihivska station, which was damaged in a Russian attack.
He said over 70 specialist workers were involved in dealing with the aftermath of the attack. All broken glass and construction debris has been removed from the station. The repair work on the damaged tracks and contact rail is in its final stages.
"The restoration of the power supply and train traffic control systems is still underway. These works are the most difficult. They have been going on since last night," Klitschko said.
"At the same time, the workers have to interrupt their work when there are air-raid warnings and go to shelters. This affects the pace of repairs. But experts are working to get this section of the metro back up and running as soon as possible," he noted.
Due to the damage to the metro infrastructure, the number of buses on routes 1M and 118 in Kyiv has been increased to improve connections between the city's districts.
In addition to the temporary route 1M, there are now three buses running between the Lisova and Darnytsia metro stations and 12 buses from Lisova to Palats Sportu.
"This will ensure a connection with the central part of the city, particularly in the event of an air-raid, and will help avoid passenger congestion at the Darnytsia metro station," the mayor explained.
Background: On the morning of 19 October, it was reported that the operation of the Chernihivska and Lisova metro stations in Kyiv had been restricted due to a Russian attack.
