Details: The outlet writes that Ukraine's prospects will be influenced by the results of the US midterm elections, as well as possible talks between Trump, Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping in November.

In addition, Trump is pinning his hopes on the G20 summit, which is scheduled to take place in December at a golf course owned by the US president.

Quote: "The president has visions of standing between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as they sign a peace deal, even if he has to strong-arm Ukraine to do it, according to advisers."

Details: Meanwhile, a Ukrainian official told the publication on condition of anonymity that Kyiv fears Washington might negotiate Ukraine's future without its participation: "It looks like this is all happening without us."

The publication notes that the prospect of discussing Ukraine's future without its representatives is also causing concern in the West. One Ukrainian official stated that there are fears of a possible division of the world into spheres of influence.

The outlet stresses that an attempt to secure an agreement over the next eight weeks could put Ukraine under significant pressure. "If Trump has his way over the next eight weeks, it might be not a negotiation, but a capitulation," The Atlantic concludes.
