Details: The president commented on recent tensions with the US, stressing that the tensions were "not about personalities".
Quote from Zelenskyy: "My attitude to Putin is very clear. I think that if we lift sanctions, we will make him stronger. It's not something personal between me and President Trump, and of course I'm against of any lifting of sanctions."
Details: He is convinced that Vladimir Putin is playing with other people's lives and certainly does not want to end the war.
Quote from Zelenskyy: "So what we want from our partners (is) not to give him a possibility to be stronger and break us."
Details: Zelenskyy noted that although European allies have provided Ukraine with some air defence missiles, "it's not enough to defend ourselves."
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine mostly needs two things from its allies right now: "Not to lift sanctions from Putin … (and) to give us better missiles."
Background:
- Earlier, Zelenskyy stated that Trump could help end Russia's war against Ukraine by changing his rhetoric regarding Putin.
- Zelenskyy also commented on the ballistic missile strike on Kyiv, stressing that despite peace talks, Russia is not demonstrating any changes in its stance on ending the war.
