Details: Sources at the Defence Ministry said they are continuing to test the system at higher speeds to establish its upper limit and determine how fully communications had been restored.
They said that the operating speed has increased to more than 161 km/h as of Saturday 24 October.
Update: Later, the Defence Ministry officially confirmed that it had recorded Starlink/Starshield operating at speeds of over 400 km/h, with the connection remaining stable.
Background:
- A few days ago, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Starlink and Starshield equipment stopped working at speeds of 130-161 km/h in various sectors of the line of contact, disrupting logistics and limiting Ukraine's use of drones.
- On 16 October, US President Donald Trump claimed that the White House had not been involved in restricting Ukraine's use of the system.
- Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk approached Trump with the idea of restricting the bandwidth of the Starlink and Starshield satellite networks used by the Ukrainian military.
