The Cabinet of the Ministers of Ukraine accepted voluntary resignation of the Deputy Minister of Interior Eka Zguladze. The Minister of Interior Arsen Avakov tweeted: "Eka is no more 1st Deputy. Cabinet of the Ministers accepted her resignation. Eka will give public statement, please don’t spread rumors. Sincerely: GREAT THANK YOU for the work!".

Mr. Avakov also made a statement in his Twitter [ed.: the text of this hyperlink is in Ukrainian language] that Zguladze agreed to continue working at the Ministry of Interior as the head of the special advisory group.

On May 1, 2016 a law on the public service entered into force. It prohibits Ukrainian public officials from having any citizenship other than Ukrainian. A number of foreigners, who were invited to become Ukrainian public servants by President Poroshenko back in 2014, have also resigned, including Oleksandr Borovik and Mariya Gaidar who were deputies of Odesa Oblast Governor Mikheil Saakashvili. They also accepted positions of advisors.
