Lutsenko Appoints Prosecutor of Odesa Oblast

Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko appointed Oleg Zhuchenko as prosecutor of Odesa oblast, Ukrayinski Novyny reports. Zhuchenko, 30, has been acting prosecutor of the oblast since March. His predecessor was dismissed in the process of lustration.

Zhuchenko graduated from Odesa Law Academy in 2007. He started his career as a detective at the Vinnytsia Prosecutor’s Office. Since December 2015, Zhuchenko was the first Deputy to Odesa Oblast Prosecutor.

Last week, Prosecutor General Lutsenko carried out a spontaneous inspection of one of the district prosecutor’s offices in the city of Odesa. Lutsenko asked the first deputy head of the district office about the original of his Toyota Avalon, and said he should either explain where the car comes from and declare this income, or quit.

He also held a number of consultations with local prosecutors who reported to him about their workload, the number of cases in court and the effectiveness of their work.
