Parade of ‘Biggest Crimean Tatar Flag’ in Kyiv

Several hundred activists walked through downtown Kyiv on Sunday, June 26, with a 39-meter long Crimean Tatar flag, which the organizers of the procession claim to be the biggest in the world.

The flag was sewn together from 40 smaller flags, and was brought in from Turkey especially for the occasion, Crimean Tatar Flag Day. The procession was headed by Mustafa Dzhemilev (Mustafa Cemilev), Presidential Commissioner for the Affairs of the Crimean Tatar People.

In a comment to Krym.Realii, he said: "Right now, the Crimean Tatar flag is a symbol of resistance to the occupation, not only for the Crimean Tatar people, but for all nationalities who are fighting for liberation of Crimea. It is also a symbol of the consolidation of the Ukrainian nation with the Crimean Tatar community in the fight for liberation."
