Four of the six political parties represented in the Parliament agreed to disclose their financial reporting to a new NGO coalition seeking to counter political corruption. On July 11, Petro Poroshenko Bloc, People’s Front, Samopomich and the Radical Party made the respective statement during the forum ‘Party Funds Under Control,’ Transparency International informed. Batkivshchyna and Opposition Bloc ignored the proposal, the NGO added.

The NGO coalition unites most prominent non-governmental actors in the field, including Eidos Center, Transparency International Ukraine, the Center for Democracy and Rule of Law and others.

The political parties committed to disclose all information about their incomes, expenses, property and financial obligations. According to the law, they have to submit this information to two key anti-corruption bodies – the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) and National Anti-corruption Bureau (NABU).

"This is the first year for the political parties to disclose in detail their financial information. The most powerful anti-corruption NGOs will unite their efforts to prevent political corruption and manipulation with party funds. It is an unprecedented situation not only for Ukraine – the government, civil society and even political parties uniting to eliminate corruption," Eidos Center Chief Viktor Taran claimed.

This October, Eidos Center will launch a web-portal ‘Party Funds’ to analyze, visualize and disclose information about party finances, as well as display a corruption index of political parties.

Natalia Korchak, Chief of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption stressed that her agency made the first steps to secure transparency of party funding. In particular, the Justice Ministry adopted a template for party financial reporting.
