Disorder in Irpin Prison, Management Removed from Office

Dirorder in Iprin Prison # 132 was reported after an inmate was beaten. As the investigation is ongoing, the prison management has been removed from office, the State Penitentiary Service (SPtS) informs.

On July 20, new inmates who arrived to Irpin prison were examined. One of them was under the influence of drugs, the SPtS claims. "While prison personnel used force against him, other inmates raised an outcry and broke the windows," it adds.

The mass disorder was stopped by staff of the regional SPtS authorities who arrived. "All the inmates of Irpin prison are in place. Escape was prevented," the SPtS asserts.

Chief of the prison Mr O. Kryvyi and his Deputy Mr A. Shepel have been removed from office for the duration of the investigation.
