It will soon be impossible to prosecute judges who put Maidan protesters in jail, as the three-year statute of limitations will expire in three and a half months. This was reported by Batkivshchina MP Serhiy Vlasenko.

"Last week Ukraine suffered a strategic defeat, but it fell on deaf ears. Everyone knows the infamous judges Tatkov and Emelianov. Last week the High Council of Justice found violations in judge Emelianov’s actions, but failed to prosecute him, as a three-year statute of limitations has expired. In fact, they just said: ‘yes, he committed violations, but we can’t prosecute him’," Vlasenko stressed.

"Considering that the High Council of Justice was not functional for almost two years, nearly all judges who violated the law may escape responsibility," he added.

Vlasenko informed that a draft law was introduced to the Parliament to extend the current three-year statute of limitations for offenses committed by judges to five years.
