Polish Ministry of Defense Lays Flowers at Monument of Ukrainian Independence Fighters

A representative of the Polish Ministry of Defense has laid flowers at the monuments of the fighters of Ukrainian People’s Republic (UNR), a predecessor of the modern Ukraine in 1917–1921, the statement of the Ministry says.

"Director of the Political Office Bartłomiej Misiewicz laid flowers to the monuments of the fighters of Ukrainian People’s Republic (UNR), who fought for the freedom of Poland and Ukraine in 1918–1919," the statement says.

 
 
 

The graves of the fighters are located on the Orthodox cemetery in Warsaw.

On July 8, after official meetings during the NATO Summit in Warsaw, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko honored the memory of the victims of 1943 Volyn tragedy who died at the hands of Ukrainians.
