Some 550-600 second-hand cars were cleared by Ukrainian customs under the new liberalized excise duty, the Head of State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov said on air on ‘112 Channel.’

"These cars were cleared for customs according to the new rules. Actually, the rules did not change that much. It is the excise duty that decreased," he explained.

According to Nasirov, this figure is much more than during the previous periods. "This is a 10-fold increase, for sure. It will provide partial solution for western regions, where a lot of cars had temporary registration or even foreign plates. It is clearer now how to legally proceed with customs clearance," he added.

On May 31, Parliament significantly reduced the excise duty for imported cars starting July 1, 2016.

In particular, customs clearance of a vehicle with 1-liter engine costs €63 instead of €1,761, and of a 2-liter engine – €534 instead of €4,882.
