Yanukovych-era Chief of State Investment Agency Vladyslav Kaskiv was detained in Panama on August 18, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said at a briefing.

According to Lutsenko, Kaskiv was put on an international wanted list upon Ukraine’s initiative.

On Thursday, GPU investigators also gave a notice of suspicion to Yanukovych-era Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych. He was accused of the embezzlement and abuse of power.

Lutsenko also reported about an array of other cases against former officials that the GPU investigates. In particular, he informed about his visit to Israel to obtain evidence against ex-Ecology Minister Zlochevskyi and about noteworthy evidence provided against ex-leader of the Party of Regions parliamentary faction Oleksandr Yefremov. According to Lutsenko, the GPU also found ‘groundbreaking’ materials in the apartment where ex-Defense Minister Pavlo Lebediev lived. He promised to release them shortly as part of the data about the Ilovaisk tragedy.

Lutsenko also informed that indictments against some fifteen persons with regard to Berkut’s mass killings on Maidan will be submitted to courts soon.

Kaskiv was put on a wanted list in March 2016. In 2012, he signed a fake $1 billion deal to construct an LNG terminal in Ukraine with Spanish company Gas Natural. Later on, the Spanish side claimed that Jordi Sarda Bonvehi – a man who signed contract on its behalf – had nothing to do with Gas Natural, as he was a ski instructor.
