Since the start of hostilities in Donbas, 50 children died and 140 were wounded in government-controlled territories, the Head of Donetsk oblast police Vyacheslav Abroskin informed on Facebook.

"[Out of them,] two children died and six were wounded because they found explosive items and did not handle them correctly," he said.

Abroskin also said that 63 localities with 37 schools and over 21,500 children therein were in the ‘red zone’ (the zone of the highest risk). From September 1, police units will be on duty at every school. Also, every school will be checked for explosives before the beginning of the school year.

Head of the oblast police added that a law to help children living close to the contact line is now being developed: "I hope that the corresponding bill will soon be registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine."
