Lutsenko: Kurchenko and Klymenko Companies Embezzled Almost ₴200 Billion

The total loss to Ukraine caused by companies associated with Yanukovych-era Revenue and Taxation Minister Oleksandr Klymenko and businessman Serhiy Kurchenko amounts to ₴198 billion ($7.92 billion), Interfax-Ukraine cites the Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko.

According to Lutsenko, the investigators so far analyzed only half of companies allegedly associated with organized gang of Yanukovych.

As reported earlier, on June 12, ex-top manager of Kurchenko’s SEPEK Andrii Koshel was detained while crossing the Ukraine-Poland border.

On 17 June, the GPU detained Oleksandr Katsuba who allegedly helped Kurchenko’s company Gaz of Ukraine 2020 to embezzle gas from Naftogaz worth ₴500 million. On the next day, the court jailed him.

Lutsenko promised to detain more people involved in Klymenko’s schemes in August.

On August 19, the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv refused to allow the Prosecutor General’s Office to start an investigation in absentia against Klymenko who is now living in Russia.
