Ukraine asks Western leaders to establish a “no-fly zone” over Ukraine

24 February 2022, 18:33

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy demands that a "no-fly zone" be established over the territory of Ukraine and counts on the West to help achieve this.

He discussed this question, in particular, with Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, reports "Evropeis’ka Pravda".

Judging by the tone of his statement, Zelenskyy expects this decision to be successfully approved. "EU is already working on an additional set of strict sanctions against Russia. I have discussed the details with Emmanuel Macron," Zelenskyy twitted.

Zelenskyy especially emphasised two features of this set of sanctions that he counts on.

"We demand that Russia be denied access to SWIFT, that a no-fly zone is established over Ukraine, and that other steps are taken to stop the aggressor," wrote the president.

It was reported that at 7pm tonight Joe Biden will announce new sanctions against Russia and promise more military equipment for Ukraine. EU promised to introduce strict sanctions against Russia during the next 24 hours.
