European Pravda — SUNDAY, 12 JUNE 2022

Jordan Gatley, a former British soldier who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March, was killed during the fighting for Sievierodonetsk.

According to European Pravda, his father Dean Gatley wrote about his son’s death on Facebook.

"Yesterday (10/06/22) we received the devastating news that our son, Jordan, has been shot and killed in the city of Severodonetsk, Ukraine," the statement said.

Jordan's father said he had left the British Army in March to continue his career as a soldier "in other areas".

"The war against Europe had begun so, after careful consideration, he went to Ukraine to help," he added.

"His team say they all loved him, as did we, and he made a massive difference to many people’s lives, not only soldiering, but also by training the Ukrainian forces," Dean Gatley said.

Sievierodonetsk is one of the key cities in Luhansk Oblast, where fighting between Ukrainian and Russian troops continues.

It is unknown at this time how many British citizens have been killed in Ukraine fighting against Russian troops. In late April the UK’s Foreign Office acknowledged that one British citizen had died and another was missing in action.

In addition, Russian state media reported on Thursday that two British citizens, 28-year-old Aiden Aslin and 48-year-old Shaun Pinner, had appeared in court in Russian-controlled territory in Donetsk, where they were found guilty of mercenary activities and acts aimed at seizing power and overthrowing the so-called constitutional order of the unrecognised pseudo-republic "DPR" [the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic].

The United Kingdom, the United States, Ukraine and a number of other countries and organisations have condemned the verdict.
