The Security Service of Ukraine has detained the Russian agent who had been collecting data about the positions of Ukrainian forces and location of critical infrastructure in Chernihiv Oblast on the border with Russia.

Quote: "He passed the gathered information to his accomplice in the Middle East. He has also recently been detained by the counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine in Chernivtsi Oblast where he had been planning a series of explosions at the ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ objects."

Details: After detaining the "messenger," the informant had been assigned with reconnoitring the positions of the Ukrainian forces and locations of the strategic objects near the border with Russia.

The occupiers needed this data to launch new attacks and carry out sabotage operations on the occupied territories.

Background: On 17 June the Security Service of Ukraine reported about having carried out a large-scale operation which resulted in the neutralisation of the massive intelligence agency of the Federal Security Service of Russia. A total of 19 people have been detained in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and in the Dnipro and Vinnytsia regions.
