Settlement in Kyiv region suffers damage to amount of US$54.2 million due to Russian occupation

The total sum of damage to the infrastructure dealt by the Russian occupiers in the village of Vorzel, Kyiv region, in spring this year, exceeds US$54 million.

In late February, heavy Russian military vehicles entered Vorzel from the direction of Bucha. At that time, 3000 people hadn't managed to evacuate yet. The occupiers searched for locals, seizing and robbing their houses.

In total, 541 buildings have been destroyed and damaged in Vorzel.

The village suffered most of the damage due to the destruction of housing stock and outbuildings. The sum of such damage is nearly $25 million, out of which $17.1 million attribute to the destruction of 23 apartment blocks. Apart from that, 173 private houses, 52 town houses, 206 outbuildings and 11 garages with a total area of 139,000 square metres were destroyed in the village.

The social infrastructure in Vorzel was also considerably damaged. 63 social sector facilities worth $24.3 million were destroyed in the village. 27 hotels and recreation facilities, 4 medical facilities, 3 grocery stores and a church suffered damage of various degrees.

Destruction and damage caused to 11 industrial and construction facilities amounts to US$2.8 million in total. The damage caused to the administrative infrastructure of the village is worth US$20,000 more.

Background:

Earlier, within the framework of the project, the damage to other settlements in the Kyiv region was assessed; the list included Irpin, Hostomel, Bucha, Horenka, Moshchun and Motyzhyn.
