Russians deploy military bases in schools of Melitipol – mayor

Russian occupiers have located their military bases in five schools in the centre of occupied Melitopol (Zaporizhzhia Oblast).

All the schools were seized by the military; there were metal detectors at the entrance, most of the parents were not allowed inside.

5 schools in Melitopol will not be working, that’s for sure. Ruscists [Russian invaders] have located their military bases, barracks and ammunition storage sites there, in the city centre".

Details: Fedorov also stated that Russia announced that the alleged attacks on educational facilities were "perpetrated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine", and provocations are being prepared by the occupiers in order to hide the low turnout at schools.

He added that most children are not going to school, but Russians are putting pressure on their parents, threatening them with fines and the termination of their parental rights.

Background: Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, ordered servicemen to be placed near every school in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
