Since the beginning of the full-scale military aggression against Ukraine, Russia has used 1,235 high-precision long-range missiles worth a total of US$5.54 billion to US$6.81 billion.

Such a conclusion can be drawn from the report by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, which addressed Russia's use of its missile potential, which the authority provided Ukrainska Pravda with.

Earlier, Oleksii Reznikov, Ukraine’s Defence Minister, has published an infographic showing the use of 2/3 of the available arsenal of high-precision, long-range missiles by the Russian occupying forces. That specifically includes Iskander (776), Kalibr (228), Kh-101 and Kh-555 missiles (with the last two types reaching a total of 231).

According to Forbes (the article is available in Ukrainian and Russian languages), the cost of one Iskander missile is US$3 million. It means that the Russians have already spent US$2.328 billion on missiles of this type, as they were launched on the territory of Ukraine.

A Kalibr missile costs US$6.5 million; that is, the total cost of the launched projectiles has already reached US$1.482 billion.

A Kh-101 missile costs US$13 million, and a Kh-555 missile, according to open source data, costs US$7.5 million.

Accordingly, the total cost of missile launchers used by Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion ranges from US$5.54 billion to US$6.81 billion, or 16.4 - 20 million average pensions in Russia (the Ministry of Labour of Russia’s data says that the average pension in the Russian Federation is 20,882 roubles, i.e. US$335).

Background:

  • The missile attack that the Russians launched on Ukraine on 10 October cost them about US$400 million to US$700 million.
  • On the morning of 10 October, Russian troops used 84 cruise missiles and 24 strike drones against peaceful cities of Ukraine.
