The Ukrainian Red Cross Society owned 10 premises in Crimea, with a total area of 641 square metres.

The Ukrainian organisation also owned six cars and office equipment for their staff, Lubinets reported.

"The Russian Red Cross has stolen property belonging to the Ukrainian [Red Cross] Society with the tacit consent of the International Federation...

All this property was ‘occupied’ by the Russian Red Cross," the Ombudsman stated.

Lubinets said that he had appealed to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for clarification.

He asked for an explanation of the Russian "occupation" of the property of the Red Cross Society in Ukraine and its transfer to the Russian Red Cross.

As of today, the Commissioner has not received a response.

"I can only conclude that Russia's financial contributions to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are more valuable than the values of the organisation itself.

Should these actions of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies be considered as recognition of the legality of the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, and do donors and volunteers of the International Red Crescent Movement from around the world know about this position?" Lubinets added.

Earlier, the Russian Red Cross began collecting donations to "support" the families of conscripted Russian occupiers.

In response, the Ukrainian Red Cross called on its partners from the international Red Cross Movement to implement "strict measures".
