Russian occupiers shoot birds listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine in Kherson Oblast, in particular, white swans.

As Khlan states, the invaders abuse the animals for fun.

In addition, the occupiers turned Arabat Spit [a sand spit-peninsula in the western part of the Sea of Azov] and sanatoriums into military bases. According to the member of Kherson Oblast Council, both Russians who are leaving the rotation, as well as conscripts are coming to the area. They are the ones committing ecocide.

Quote: "The occupied left-bank part of Kherson Oblast is suffering from the actions of the occupiers. Yesterday [11 December], it was reported that during the ‘regular training’, the occupiers simply started shooting red-listed birds along the coast.

Arabat Spit has always been an ecological zone. There are birds that have migrated seasonally, that is, there are mostly white swans right now. The occupiers are shooting them for fun," Khlan emphasises.

Background: Yurii Sobolevskyi, Head of the Executive Office of Kherson Oblast Council, earlier confirmed in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda.Zhyttia that the invaders abducted a raccoon from the local mini-zoo during their retreat from the city of Kherson. Oleh Zubkov, director of the zoo, promised to bring back all the animals abducted by the Russian army. Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence also promised that they would definitely bring the animal back to Ukraine.

Ukrainians are also concerned about the fate of the Kherson "combat" raccoon, that is why they initiated a petition in which they offer to exchange the monument of Russian Empress Catherine II in Odessa for the abducted raccoon.
