Humanitarian disaster that "doesn't exist": people queue for porridge and bread in Mariupol

Thursday, 29 December 2022, 13:09

Kostiantyn Ivashchenko, the representative of the occupation authorities in Mariupol, regularly posts information about the humanitarian aid that the city is allegedly receiving.

In contrast to this, the legitimate Mariupol City Council has posted photos revealing the humanitarian disaster taking place in the occupied city.

These pictures show a large crowd of people queuing for food.

"Mariupol. Stability. A queue of thousands for a plate of warm porridge and a loaf of bread.

The propagandists claim ‘there is no humanitarian disaster, life has just got a little worse’," emphasised Petro Andriushchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol.

Adults, children and elderly people stand in queues for food. In one of the photos, you can see porridge being poured into a plastic bag.

At the same time, according to Andriushchenko, collaborators are teaching lessons on the topic of "Children’s Rights" in Mariupol schools. The children decided for themselves what their rights were and wrote them on the board. One of the photos posted by the mayor's adviser is a vivid testimony of what children in the occupation lack: the "right to food". And also the rights to life, freedom of speech, clothing, healthcare and protection.

"The children were not told that under Moscow’s control, rights are not something that people have the right to, but a piece of paper that allows them to drive a car," Andriushchenko notes [a play on words: in Ukrainian, "driving licence" and "human rights" use the same word for "rights"].
